Arnetia Abbigail is an autonomous artist and a student of Interior Design at the Jan des Bouvrie Academy. Her work originates from her inner world and draws inspiration from her Surinamese roots.
Subtle details such as beads and fabrics, which frequently appear in her work, are elements derived from this cultural heritage. In Surinamese culture, butterflies are seen as spiritual beings, and they, too, often return in her art in abstract forms.
Her practice consists of mixed media and is highly abstract, making it a continuous journey of discovery for the viewer. Working intuitively, she creates compositions in which saturated colors and dynamic forms play a central role.
Her background in interior design naturally brings a sense of balance and harmony to her work.
