BureauAat is the studio of Aad Kruiswijk, an Amsterdam based artist, designer and maker working between sculpture, furniture, material research and invention.

With a background in both the Hout en Meubileringscollege and the Gerrit Rietveld Academie, Kruiswijk combines craft, machine knowledge and artistic research. His work often begins with the question of how a difficult or almost impossible form can be made physical.

Machines are central to his practice. He uses robot cutting, 3D printing, CNC milling, casting and metalwork not only as production methods, but as ways to discover new forms.

During GLUE, BureauAat presents MineralisM, a series of sculptural objects and unique prototypes based on asymmetrical mineral like forms. The works are created through material research and machine processes, including robot cut solid wood, recycled materials, metal and digitally produced parts.

MineralisM explores the tension between nature and technology. The objects seem mineral, grown or found, but are created through precise and sometimes radical making processes. Each work changes with light, material, surface and viewpoint, inviting the viewer to move around it and look again.
