MOMENTUM
In the modern era we live in, mechanisation, mass production, and efficiency often overshadow the subtlety of human creativity. In our industrial age, the handmade and the human imprint serve as vital marks in the search for authenticity. Momentum stands as a testimony to this ethos - a tribute to the symbiotic relationship between (in)efficiency and creative freedom within the art of craftsmanship.
With this collection of glass-blown objects, I try to capture a fleeting moment in time - one that encompasses expertise, embodied knowledge, and the intimate dance between maker and medium. The brief moment when glass is still formable, combined with the hand-formed ceramic moulds in which the glass is blown into, creates this moment. The physical work required for this can be seen in the Momentums: how my hands shape the ceramics plays an important role in the result. No Momentum is the same because the mould decays during the glass-blowing process. Momentum aims to capture a moment in time, and recognizes the expertise and embodied knowledge that artisans possess in their relationship with specific materials.
Each piece in the collection strikes a delicate balance between aesthetic exploration, technical mastery, and contemporary sensibility—honoring traditional craftsmanship while embracing a creative process rich in meaning and emotion.
Momentum is a collection of glass blown objects that have become knowledge artefacts of my embodied knowledge, within the symbiotic interplay of ceramics and glass.
